The Rectisol process is the most widely used physical solvent gas treating process for acid gas removal using an organic solvent at low temperatures. In general, methanol is used for removal of hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, and carbon dioxide as well as removal of organic and inorganic impurities.
